About Halcyon

Our Progression

Halcyon is the most progressed guild on Arathor. We cleared BT/MH and SW (pre 3.0). In WotLK, we’ve cleared Naxxramas including the Heroic: Glory of the Raider achievement and received our black proto drakes. We have completed all hardmodes in Ulduar and have Algalon down, including Yogg – zero lights in the darkness. We have our Ironbound Proto drakes. We are 5/5 HTotGC 25, and have completed A Tribute to Insanity. We are 12/12 in ICC 25 Heroic, and 12/12 in ICC 10 Heroic. Halcyon has every 25 man server first achievement for the WotLK expansion.

Raid Schedule

We raid Sunday through Thursday, 7:15-11pm Pacific Time. During times of progression we may occasionally hold optional raids Fri and/or Sat to push content, or go slightly later in the evening. Both are rare.

Requirements

  • Age Requirements: Please be 18 years of age or older.
  • Gear Requirements: You should be equipped with ICC 25 (ie. 264 +) equivalent gear or better. You should have the highest quality, appropriate PvE enchants (including Sons of Hodir exalted shoulder inscription) and epic gems in all of your equipment.
  • Skill Requirements: Previous raiding experience is a must, BC and pre-BC raiding experience is a huge plus.
  • Talent Requirements: You must have a PvE talent spec and be willing to respec if we ask you to do so, period.
  • Play-style Requirements: If you habitually go /afk or don’t pull your weight, do not apply. You must be a quick learner and be able to think on your feet.
  • Attendance Requirements: You must make 75% or more of all scheduled raids. We prefer members who approach 100% attendance. If you cannot make a scheduled raid, you must make a post or let an officer know before the raid that you will be unable to attend. Please put one of these sentences/phrases in the “Reasons to Join” section of your application to to prove that you pay attention and follow instructions: “I’ve heard that Malevalon squeals like a little girl.” “I want to hear Excal talk about paladin loot.” “Kaledine likes stupid hippy music.” or “I want Sepulture to yell at me.” You should also be able to stay connected to WoW for the duration of the raid, and rarely have to leave the raid for “emergencies”.

How we handle Loot

Loot System: Council Loot based on a blind, zero-sum dkp system for non-trivial 25 mans. We /random and use Common Sense™ in 10 mans. We are not here to play dress-up; we do not like greedy people. Loot is for progression purposes, and will be treated as such.

Our Environment

Our raid, vent, and guild chats often contain harsh language, off-color jokes, and sexual content. You will also need to be comfortable with receiving constructive criticism from both the officers and your fellow guildmates. This may include comments on your spec, gem choices, talent choices, etc. We try to maintain an enjoyable gaming environment, but if you are easily offended, or not receptive to criticism, then this guild is not for you.

Probationary Period

You will go through a probationary period after we recruit you. The trial period is for an indefinite amount of time and will be based on your performance and the commitment you show to the guild and to raiding. An applicant will either be accepted and become a raider, set at a friend rank if they do not meet the standards for raider or removed from the guild if they do not fit in at Halcyon. If you want to be promoted to raider you need to maintain a very high attendance rate, demonstrate a high level of consistency and precision in your play, learn to execute strategies quickly, and have a positive attitude.

Guild Bank

Raiders have full access to the guild bank for repairs during raid hours. The guild bank also provides some food, flasks, elixirs and potions to its raiding members, as well as gems/enchants/item enhancements for all 25 man raid gear.
